Glorfindel tossed and turned for several hours, unable to sleep for long. Blue eyes and long white hair continued to haunt his dreams. Finally rising, he donned a pair of leggings and a light shirt. Suspecting it to be a chill night, he donned a heavier robe as well. Making his way out to the stables, he entered around the back, knowing Asfaloth's stall was at the end. Finding it empty dismayed the elf Lord somewhat and he called softly.

A familiar snort came from the front of the stables, nearer to the main entrance. Rounding the corner, he saw his beloved steed curled up with the pony the hobbits had brought. Asfaloth lifted his head, his blue eyes shining at the sight of his master. Kneeling, Glorfindel rubbed Asfaloth's nose, then bent to rub Bill's as well. "Poor little pony, let me get you some blankets." Rising, he looked around. Several blankets were on a shelf higher than he could reach. Hands on his hips, he wondered what sadistic elf had put them so high up. Suddenly he felt a pressure against his back, and he was pushed against the wall. Chuckling as he recognized his horse, Glorfindel savored the slight pressure for a moment, then bent, stepping under the horse's chest.

He moved to stand before Asfaloth for a moment, nuzzling the horses' face, his hands moving up to scratch ears that twisted and twitched in appreciation. Asfaloth's breath was warm against his ear, and the horse began to chew Glorfindel's hair. Closing his eyes, he laid his cheek on the horse's white neck.

A very faint braying caught Glorfindel's attention and he stepped back from Asfaloth reluctantly. Whispering for a second into Asfaloth's ear, Glorfindel leapt easily to stand on the horses' back, grabbing all the blankets and leaping down gracefully. Setting the pile aside, he took one and spread it over Bill before scratching his ears. "There we are, little pony," he said softly. "That should keep you warm."

Standing, Glorfindel was nearly toppled by a sharp tug on his robe. Turning, he saw the hem firmly in Asfaloth's mouth, and the horse tugged again, having gotten his Rider's attention. With a soft laugh, Glorfindel gently pulled the robe from his steed's teeth, and turned to wards the end of the stables.

Following behind Glorfindel, Asfaloth pressed his nose against the elf lord's back and gave him a gentle shove to hurry him along.
