My handcrafted necklaces, bracelets, and earrings are made from an ever-varied range of materials. I use glass - much of it imported from the Czech Republic; high quality acrylic from Japan and other places; silver- and gold-plated and colored base medals and semi-precious materials such as turquoise and freshwater pearls.
I make every effort to distinguish between those pieces which have a true semi-precious materials and those which simply look like they do. While some of the stone may be dyed and/or treated to increase the strength and stability of the bead, the material is still genuine.
Two sub-catagories should be explained: Goldstone and Misc Gems. Because it's often included with them, I'm adding goldstone to this page. It's technically man made but it's frequently treated as a semi-precious stone. It's not accurate to do so but I've always considered it as a semi-precious, and it wasn't until I started making jewelry myself that I learned it was artificial. Misc gems are those stones acquired from reliable sources so I trust that they're gemstones but I can't tell for certain if it's jasper, agate or some other stone. I occasionally purchase lots of mixed gemstones - the items listed here are from those collections, when I can't reliably identify what the stone actually is.
